Alcester Minster Churches
Worshipping God, making new disciples and transforming communities
St Mary & All Saints - Haselor
When we meet
Welcome to St Mary and All Saints - Haselor
‘a worshipping community at the heart of the village’
Haselor and Walcote are two halves of the same community – a community that is both welcoming and mutually supportive. Haselor Church sits proudly on top of the hill between the two as it has done for nearly 1,000 years. It is open to visitors 24 hours a day and can provide a refuge for quiet contemplation when needed, whether seated inside or outside. The views from the churchyard are exceptional and provide a magnificent backdrop for wedding photographs.
The services are warm and friendly so visitors can be assured that they will always be welcome. A loop system is used to ensure that everyone can participate fully in our services and the involvement of children is encouraged particularly at the Family Service.
For details of Sunday services please see the chart on the 'When we meet' page. Details of special services for Mothering Sunday, Easter, Harvest, Remembrance and Christmas will be listed on the noticeboard page: noticeboard.html.
Home groups run throughout the year. Please click the link: get-involved.html.
Sat Nav: B49 6LZ
The church can be reached from either Haselor or Walcote via a footpath but not by car. The Sat Nav postcode will take you to the footpath starting in Walcote next to Hill House. A wheelchair is available for anyone who would find the footpath difficult. Access to the church by off road vehicles is possible by arrangement when needed. (Ring 01789 488420).

The Rev Cornelius Griffin (Vicar from 1840-1867) wrote that Haselor Church was “Founded in 1023” but it is uncertain how he was able to be so precise. However church records do confirm that the church was first built around that time. The present building was built after the Norman Conquest. Unsurprisingly major restoration work has been necessary from time to time since then, the most recent being in the mid-19th century.
The stained-glass east window was presented by the Squire of Bentley Manor, Mrs Maud Cheape, in 1893. Mrs Cheape beautified the church still further by donating the altar, new choir and clergy stalls, the pulpit, the organ, and the panelling.
