History of St Nicholas Church

A 15 minute video of 25 pictures describing the fascinating interior of Alcester's Grade 2* St Nicholas parish church and the various ancient and modern artefacts that are within it.  The video includes a brief history of the building with an educated guess of its layout from medieval times prior to its major rebuild of 1730 and additions of 1871 that we see today.

The listed church has Francis Smith's 18th Century Palladian style Nave, a rare example in itself, sandwiched between its 14th Century west tower, and Frederick Preedy's Victorian gothic revival additions of Chancel and Transepts to east end, making a curious bonding of three differing historical styles of church architecture, each influenced by religious practices of their times.
